Funerals
My role at funerals is both spiritual and pastoral. I offer comfort, hope, and perspective - rooted in faith.
Spiritual Care
Through scripture readings, I will share passages of comfort, hope, resurrection, and God’s presence. I will pray an opening prayer, a pastoral prayer, prayers for comfort, and a closing blessing/benediction. My message and sermon will be a Christ-centered reflection that acknowledges grief, while celebrating the person’s life, and proclaiming our shared hope in eternal life.
Pastoral Care
Ever present with the family, I listen, comfort, and walk with them before, during, and after the service. I'll share memories from the family’s input, honoring the life of the deceased while pointing to God’s promises. I will provide guidance, helping the family shape the service order, choose readings, music, and structure.
Practical Leadership
While leading the service, I will be setting the tone, moving smoothly between elements: readings, music, eulogies, and tributes. I can also provide committal service at the graveside or columbarium, leading final prayers, scripture, and words of committal. I will coordinate and work with your funeral directors, musicians, and the family to ensure the service flows well.
Ongoing Ministry
I offer follow-up care, checking in with the grieving family in the days and weeks after, offering counseling, prayer, or grief support resources. During the service I will offer a reminder to those assembled and encourage the church body to surround the family with love and practical support.
